I am a qualified, practising artist living in the Gosforth area of Newcastle upon Tyne. I graduated from Sunderland University with a BA (Hons) in Art and Design. I have been painting and drawing since I was old enough to hold a brush or a pencil in my hand encouraged by my mother and father. My father was a very good artist and I used to watch him mixing his colours and painting as a small child.

My work is very diverse now ranging from acrylics, oils, silk paintings and mixed media. I also have a great passion for photography; I find the camera a very useful tool for recording information which can be later used in my creations.

I have exhibited my work in solo and group exhibitions, also galleries around the UK and have artwork in many private collections both at home and abroad. The highlight of my exhibitions was having my large silk paintings installed onto the pillars of St. Nicholas’s Cathedral in the city centre of Newcastle.

I was given the opportunity to curate exhibitions in a restaurant where I was resident artist, enabling me to work with many artists. I was also resident artist in a school twice and over a period of time, produced large murals working with the children. They were absolutely in awe, having an artist working in the school involving them with painting brightly coloured artworks based on nature and story book characters. I felt a bit like The Pied Piper, I waved my brush and the children came running. My work is permanently on exhibition there.

I have always been greatly inspired by an outdoor life. Being a keen walker both at home and abroad, I have a very great love for the beauty and colour that naturally occurs in nature. Whether it is dramatic landscape, beautiful flowers, trees and woodland, stormy skies or pounding waves, where ever I am something will stir my passion. Whatever inspires me in life I paint.
